More about Numbers in Spanish

A shop owner recently told me that he is having problems relaying prices to his hispanic customers. He wanted to know if there would be any chance of misunderstanding if he used the numbers from one to ten to give prices. For example, he wants to say "cinco, cinco, nueve" for $5.59. Thanks for your opinions.

Would you say "five, five, nine" for $5.59 in English? I don't think so, it's not pretty clear, the most logical way to say it is "Cinco, Cincuentainueve" (Five Fifty Five) just like in English.

"cinco dólares y cincuentainueve centavos"

Would that sound too formal? I'm afraid that's the way I would say it. I'm not a native speaker.

Actually, I would use "cincuenta y nueve", but since he is speaking it

In this side we say 'cinco con cincuenta y nueve' (5,59€)
