Can we write "revert" in our communication mails?

sure

Example:

"I don't think your proposed design to revert all user-customizable settings to the installation defaults every Feb 29th at midnight is advisable."

Unless you're trying to express that the MANNER of the reversion is not advisable, "design" is not the right word. If you think that the reversion itself is a bad idea, you should say so.

As for the original question, I am don't understand what the issue is. What would be the problem with "revert"?
