Is an algerian more arabic than a tunisian?

Is a russian more slavic than a bulgarian?

Is an austrian more germanic?

Is a swedish more scandianvian than a norwish?

Your question is a non sense wich means that you totally ignore what means the word "Latin".
what about he romanians, portugueses? Are they less?

"what do you mean by the most latin? "

This is a somewhat confusing question since Romance languages are not Latin, but... Romance. All of them are definitely different from Latin.

But it makes sense to assume that:
- Italian has a relatively higher Latin content than the other,
- French a higher Germanic content,
- Spanish a higher Arabic and Basque content,
- Romanian a higher Slavic content,
- and so on.

Spain does not have more "Basque" content than France.

Romanian is the only language that has preserved something of the Latin case system, although it was also modified in the process (e.g. the plural genitive inflection "-ilor" or "-elor", depending on gender, derives from the Latin inflection "-orum" or "-arum", cf. "timpurilor" vs. "temporum", meaning "of (the) times"). All other Romance languages have become completely analytical, using prepositions instead of a case system, although some of those prepositions were already used with Latin inflected nouns, but with a slightly different meaning (e.g. "de" with ablative case used to mean "of" or "about" before becoming the preposition indicating possession or belonging, as Italian "di" or French and Spanish "de"). The definite article "il", "le" or "el" derives from the indicative pronoun "ille, illa, illud", etc. I guess this took some centuries to happen, but it is not really possible to tell when it started.

"is Latin overestimated?"

Latin is like Marilyn Monroe or James Dean: famous, sexy, absolutely dead.

French is like Liz Taylor.

To the original poster:

Don't you mean "which country WAS more Latin?"

All of the European countries are only arbitrarily Latin now. Their Latin heritage is just a relic of history, a curiosity. As for NOW, they are all about 80% Muslim/African, 19% American, about 0.6% Basque/Galician/Catalan/Breton/OtherMinorities and finally 0.4% Latin.

Thus is the truth.

Slav,

Thank you for your knowledgeable post - nice to see some professionals at work in here. Indeed, the Romanian grammar is quite complicated concerning the case and declensions.

The only way for salvation of Argentinian is to pass to Italian, German or Japanese Languages: languages of smart people.
