I do speak

Are the forms " I do speak", "she does know " and so on, more used in the US than in the UK? I think so...

Well - I can't speak for the US, but I can tell you that the only time you'd use these forms in the UK is to emphasise the statement.

Example 1:
A: She's never spoken to me. I don't think she ever speaks.
B: She does speak (with emphasis on 'does'.)

Example 2:
A: Can she come out tonight?
B: Well, she does have some things to finish off here first. (Again, with emphasis on the 'does'.)

As far as I know that is standard usage in all forms of English.
