英语故乡汉语热 500所中小学开设汉语课

英语是目前世界上应用最广泛的语言。随着中国国际地位的提高，在英语的故乡，有越来越多的人开始学习汉语。11月24日，应中国国家汉语国际推广领导小组办公室的邀请,来自英国肯特郡、威尔士等11个地区的中小学校长和地方教育官员110多人来到中国，开始了他们的访华之旅。
■学习中文能够更多、更深层次地了解中华文化
中国国家汉办主任、孔子学院总部总干事许琳在欢迎仪式上致辞，祝愿英国中小学校长和教育官员们此次中国之行收获多多，并代表国家汉办向英国中小学赠送了一批汉语教材和中文图书。
英国驻华大使馆文化参赞、英国文化协会中国区主任Joanna Burke女士在欢迎仪式上表示，为了让学生具备全球视野，英国教育部门即将开展“延伸课堂”项目，通过学习外语、与国外学校建立联系来促进该项目的实施。虽然在英国学习汉语的学生和在中国留学的英国学生人数还不算多，但是近年来一直呈增加的态势。年轻人之间的相互理解会帮助他们在成年后更好地去解决全球所面临的问题。
本次中国之旅成员、英国阿什克布学校副校长Peter Thompson说：“作为中小学校长，我们通过此次中国之行可以为同事和学生提供一个真实的中国。英国学生学习中文，能够更多、更深层次地了解中华文化。我曾看到许多人因为中国之旅而改变了生活方向，我相信，参加本次活动的其他人也会发生这样的变化。”
据悉，英国中小学校长访华之旅成员将分组赴山东、山西、广东、上海、天津和重庆6省市参观访问。活动期间，他们将访问中国的中小学校并与中国的中小学校建立姊妹学校关系。

目前，几乎所有的英国大学都或多或少地开设了汉语课。其中，有20所大学开设了汉语本科以上学历课程，学习汉语的人数（学历教育）已超过 4000人。而将汉语作为专修、兼修和选修的人数则更多。仅伦敦大学亚非学院一校，各类学习汉语的人数（学历教育）就已超过400人，非学历教育的人数已超过2000人。报名参加国家汉办主办的“汉语桥”比赛的人数也呈逐年上升趋势。
在英国的中小学，也有越来越多的学校开始系统地开设汉语课程。开设汉语课程的学校数量，已从2002年的57所、2004年的100所到2006年的300所，再到目前的近500所。这些数字，充分说明了汉语在英国的推广速度。
中国每年通过合作项目派往英国学校教授汉语的教师也逐年增加，中国留学人员应聘到英国学校从事汉语教学的人员遍布英伦三岛。国家汉办在为英国大、中、小学开设汉语课程的学校提供师资、教材的同时，还在英国开办了12所孔子学院和14所孔子课堂。目前还有更多的学校和机构正在申请开办孔子学院。
