I have recently moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa area. I was looking for "American Accent Lessons" that will help me to communicate better. I am trying to reduce my south Asian accent but haven't been able to do so on my own. Any help or pointers regarding this is greatly appreciated.

Praat software and IPA for vowels.
For consonants some books showing appropriate tongue positions.
Accent coach'd be a good choice (if you can afford one).

Well, if you now live in America and want to adopt the accent of the native speakers around you, just ask a friend to help. Simply ask someone to sit down with you every day and read a sentence at a time from the newspaper and have you repeat. If they think you said something wrong, repeat it several times after them to get it right. Finding a friend nice enough to do this could be a problem.

Which American accent?, according to prof. Labov there are 16 American accents,

NYC accent vs Chicago accent vs Minneapolis accent vs Boston accent vs Philly accent vs L.A. accent (S.F.Valley) vs Denver accent

all pretty different
