Gerund again
Is "dancing" a gerund in all these sentences?
I saw her dancing. = I saw the type of dancing she does.
I saw her dancing. = She was dancing when I saw her
It could be a gerund, grammatically speaking. Maybe. But without a good context to justify the almost unidiomatic first meaning, the most common and expected meaning by far is the second one.
For the first meaning, I believe people would say "I saw the way she dances".
I saw her dancing. = I saw the type of dancing she does. <Yes, Gerund>
You saw what of hers? --her Dancing (n)
I saw her dancing. = She was dancing when I saw her <No, Participle>
How was she when you saw her? --She was dancing (adj)
