Hey, I have good friends from Oklahoma -- I can answer this one!

The woman speaks with a very standard GAE accent, but the man has a much more pronounced regional one. I believe the correct term for it is Midlands, but it sounds like a transitional cross between Southern and GAE syles -- he has a little bit of a soft drawl, says things like "Sa'erdee" for "Saturday", and we always tease him by trying to get him to say "nuclear" -- it invariably comes out "noo-kyoo-ler" (much to his chagrin -- ever seen a Cherokee blush? It's a riot!)

Also, country singer Reba MacIntyre speaks with a good example an Oklahoman accent . If you get a chance to hear any interviews with her, by all means listen.

Annie,

Your welcome. If only I had grown up there instead of on the west coast. Then I could give you some first hand information. The downside though is that it is one of the harder states to live in. Many of its people moved to other states during the Great Depression of the 1930's, especially to California and Florida.
