Which languages are important in the field of science and

What I mean is that many scientific and technical articles are written and published in English which is often a requirement, so knowledge of English is important, but which are languages are important beside that?

a lot of people can read technical English but can't speak english properly so their studies are in their native language.

It depends.
For example Russian is important in aero/space technology. Japanese is important in microelectronics, integrated optics, optoelectronics, nanotechnology - and it is a must in robotics.
I would say that German, French, Japanese and Chinese are the most important languages in sci/tech (after English). But important and inovative technologies can be created in any industrialized country - even in smaller ones like Denmark or in poorer ones like Eastern European countries.
