What do you make of the construction of this sentence? Is the correct very being used with days? If not, what alternative would you provide?

"Engraved in my memory are the hectic days that carried/brought/took/led us to the end of a laborious academic year..."

"Engraved in my memory are the hectic days signaling/beckoning the end of a laborious academic year..."

"Engraved in my memory are the hectic days that carried us to the end of a laborious academic year..."

This is my favourite, althought it is unusual to use the word 'carried' in this context.

"Engraved in my memory are the hectic days signaling the end of a laborious academic year..."

'beckoning' does not work as well.
