"Founded" is the past tense of "found". To found something is to begin building something or to start something. For instance: "This organization was founded by my grandfather."

<<but past tense of find is found na??>>

I have seen "na" used that way several times lately, and I was wondering what that was. What dialect is that? Is it a foreign word used by some non-native speakers? Is it Singlish (Singapore English)?

You understand my question na?

Thank you.

Yes, found is the past tense of "to find" (meaning to discover or locate). But there is another word, "to found', which means something completely different -- to establish. This is the meaning that the second poster was getting at, and the past tense of "to found" IS "founded". It can be a little confusing if you aren't familiar with the distinction.

Other related terms would be foundation, founding, fundamental, etc. None of them have anything to do with finding anything, which is how you know that "to find" and "to found" are very different words, even though they share a conjugated version.
