A Firefox add-on that displays phonetics?

Hello world,

Currently I copy and paste words into the search bar of http://www.macmillandictionary.com but that requires several clicks. Hence it is tedious and tiresome. There must be an easier way.

I am thinking about an add-on that shows you phonetic transcriptions of words in a pop-up window when you mark them. The transcriptions according to the IPA should optionally provide you with AE or BE. A voice output is not necessary; a dictionary would be fine.

I have already searched on https://addons.mozilla.org but could not find anything suitable.

If you are into computer programming feel free to write such an add-on :)

Any help is appreciated.

When I wrote "pop-up window" I actually meant some kind of a speech bubble that closes itself after unmarking a word.

I think what you are looking for is stardict. Try it out, it's great.

Tanks for replying. I have downloaded and installed the program but unfortunately I cannot integrate it into Firefox.

You don't need to do so, as it is an application in its own, and it works with whatever application that displays text, including firefox. You must get the dictionaries separately though, there are plenty of them and it comes with tools for converting from other dictionaries. I've only used it on linux, you double-click on a word (X-Window clip) and then press control. It also say the word if you have a pronouncing dictionary installed.
