Does English really need the s-suffix?

"Does English really need the s-suffix when it already has many, few and numbers?

e.g.

many Fords - many Ford

few balls - few ball

ten websites - ten website "

Not necessarily, spoken French usually does not make any distinction between the plural and singular forms of words and I'm pretty sure the French understand each other reasonably well...
