A historic or an historic

I have never been to England so I find this fascinating. You pronounce the h in herb. That sounds odd to me. I guess it shouldn't though.

The only words I can think of right off where I don't pronounce the H are

honor (honour)

hour

herb

All these are said an

Anything else I say a ....

It drives me crazy to hear or see and historic.

oh and in humble i don't pronounce the h but some people do.

i think is should be an umble or a humble.

No, you're right in finding it odd. British English is substandard.

Why would it annoy you?

I don't do it myself; but a little nasal consonant shouldn't trouble anyone.
