can someone help with overwhelmed. i want to say i am overwhelmed. for instance if all of this has happened so suddenly that i feel a bit overwhelmed, how do i say that.

i don't mean in a negative sense. If i am overwhelmed with God's goodness or someone's kindness, how do say that?

agobiar? abrumar?

If I get it right the agobiar is more in a negative sense but abrumar can mean the same thing. but estoy abrumado con su amabilidad. or maybe Estoy abrumado con sus atenciones.

thanks much,

chico

You are right. "Abrumar" lacks the negative connotations "agobiar" has. For example: Tu belleza me abruma. On the other hand for instance if you are overhelmed by work "agobiar" is the word that fits: Estoy abogiado por le trabajo.
