Democrat Party

Why do Republicans use the term "Democrat Party" instead of the actual name of the party, the Democratic Party?

I have never heard the term "Democrat Party" noten.

Did you see this in print? Or heard it orally?

Probably for the same reason you sign Pete instead of Peter

Rush Limbaugh uses this terminology. If Republicans say "Democrat Party" it is kind of back-handed, meaning they aren't democratic.

They say it out of ignorance of grammar.

I have heard this a few times. I wondered about it as well. Huh? The DEMOCRAT party? It sounds awful that way, but I was too lazy to look it up. I've always heard "He's a Democrat", but "The Democratic Party"
unless recently...

Their website says "Democratic" party. Democrat is short for "Demon" plus "crat", isn't it? Just kidding. I don't belong to that party or the Republican party either.
