Former women's world number 1 tennis player, Ana Ivanović, studies Spanish seriously when she's not playing tennis. Note that she is from the Eastern European country of Serbia. How popular is Spanish In Eastern Europe?
Bosanka   Fri May 07, 2010 11:46 pm GMT
Extremely popular because of Spanish language soap operas.
There are 10 soap operas per day (mainly from Mexico but
Colombian and Argentinian ones are frequent too), and they feature original voice (and are subtitled and never dubbed).

Extremely unpopular even with Spanish language soap operas.
There are 10 soap operas per day (mainly from Mexico but
Colombian and Argentinian ones are frequent too), and they feature original voice (and are dubbed and subtitled).

In the the Philippines and Guam too, 2 former colonies of Spain for more than 300 years, Spanish soap operas are dubbned into local vernacular languages in the Philippines and Chamorro in Guam.

More French to be taught in Serbian schools

The Minister said that French as a first foreign language is taught in 50 primary schools and as a second language in 600 schools.

He added that 25 mentors for the French language have been trained and that this agreement confirms a good educational cooperation between France and Serbia.

Terral said that there are at least three reasons for France wanting to promote the French language in Serbia, France refuses to accept the world’s uniformity, ‘Francophonie’ and Serbia’s European perspective.

French is the most popular foreign language in Serbia. It is taught as the primary secondary language not as a foreign language starting from primary schools of our country.

Why would the Serbs learn French when Vichy Nazi France (rather than (London based free France) was allied to their Nazi enemies - the Croatians?

Also France recognises Kosovo as a sovereign nation, whereas Spain does not. By the way, which is the most studied language in Kosovo?

Most of Spanish speaking countries do not recognise Kosovo.

I neither do recognize Kosovo, but my pansy government sadly does...

I guess that another sovereign muslim country in Europe is like a wet dream for the P.C. elites of Europe, specially for the French ones.

The only think I agree with fucking Zapatero is his position on sovereign of Kosovo. This might prove even a demented president like him can't be wrong 100% of time.

Franco, I can't believe that most Muslim countries do not recognize Kososvo's sovereignty. Only Albania, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Turkey, Malaysia, and Afghanistan do.
Franco   Sat May 08, 2010 2:22 am GMT
Given the traditional alligment of France with the Muslims (Chirac was close friend of Saddam), studying French is a betrayal to Christianity. Serbians should know it well.

Kosovo is only Muslim in name, but for the rest it's just a rogue state which main export products consist of sex slavery, drug trafficking, general crime and more prostitution.
The worst of this all is that people in Albania and in Kosovo still haven't outgrown the clan state, and criminals are seen as heroes there. Also within Albanian diaspora worldwide pimps are the equivalents of what their ancestors saw as a respected clan leader.

I almost forgot to mention they're very uneducated:

Normally I don't lower myself in what might seem as hate speech, but sadly I didn't lie anywhere here. They're in such a bad state as a civilization.
Well, they (Albania) have one excellent writer called Ismail Kadare, but for the rest they need a serious mentality change.

In Albanian culture it's also a taboo for a man to help a woman. This is seen as a sign of weakness. Again, I'm not making this up some cheap racist stereotypes here people!
