If you're in Europe then definitely English, German and French.

If you're in North America then English, Spanish and something you're quite interested in and that you can practice. Except if you're in Canada, then the 3rd should definitely be French.

Spanish is a must if you're in North America. But in Europe it's practically useless when compared to German/French.

Chinese (and other Asian languages such as Arabic or Japanese - god, I never understood why this one is so popular) is just a waste of time. Especially if the only reason you wanna learn it, is that it's "useful". Because then you're not gonna be motivated enough. The only reason to learn Chinese is if you're really into their culture and stuff.

As a general rule I can say that the most useful is to learn English, a regionally influential language, and as a 3rd language something you're really interested in and that you can practice, as well. Alternatively, if there are more regionally influential languages then the 3rd could be that, as well.

A an individual should speak a language regionally influential,
It depends on the individual's nationality:

for an Spanish speaker - choose to learn French, Portuguese, Italian, Catalan..German, English.

for a USA English speaker - learn French, Spanish, or any other language from your relatives.

for a Portuguese speaker - learn Spanish, English, French

for an Italian speaker - learn French, German, Spanish, English,

for a German speaker - have to learn French, Spanish, English

for a Chinese speaker - learn Japanese, Korean, English, Russian .......

for a French speaker - have to learn Spanish, English, Italian, German.........

if an individual in USA knows, lets say for example, Hebrew, he is influential but only arround his jewish cultural knowledge.

Hopefully knowing more than one language , no matter which one, will be the most useful for your influence zone. Just choose...............

Agree with Franco 100% no doubt, Spanish is one of the most important languages in the world among the above described.

Who cares about your stupid suggestions... every person generally picks whatever he wants....I used to like Spanish but I have disliked it since I met Franco on this forum...
