''behind''

I pronounce ''behind'' more like /b@haInd/ than /bIhaInd/. I once read somewhere that the correct pronunciation of the word was /bIhaInd/, but I and many others here pronounce it /b@haInd/ ''buh-hind''. Is there a particular reason why /b@haInd/ is incorrect?

Personally, I don't think it's incorect.

Either one is fine. Don't worry about the correctness of them as native speakers use both forms.

That's funny. Around here, it appears that /bIhAInd/ is only ever heard by nonnative speakers and native speakers generally say /b@hAIND/.

I usually say [b@"haInd], and I might occasionally say [bi"haInd] with an [i], but I don't think I'd ever say [bI"haInd].
