Comment traduiriez-vous cette citation de François Rabelais :

« Le rire est le propre de l'homme. » ?

May I suggest :

"Laugh is peculiar to mankind"

Cheers. Claude.

Català:

literal translation:

El riure és el propi de l'home.

or rather with no sexual barriers:

El riure és el propi de l'ésser humà.

In this case, Hungarian has a very exact match: "A nevetés az ember sajátja", or "A nevetés emberi sajátosság" (the word "saját" - an adjective sometimes used as a noun - meaning a thing that is "owned" by somebody).

>>>LE RIRE EST LE PROPRE DE L'HOMME<<<

The closest translation I can suggest is:

"El reír es propio del hombre."

It sounds OK and makes sense.
