query and question

Are 'query' and 'question' interchangeable technically in any case?
And which is preferred?

"Query" sounds very formal or literary. In everyday speech, say "question".

"Query" is also used in database terminology, by the way. In that situation, you can't use "question". Example: "The SQL database handled 500 queries today."
