Does "You must finish this homework by Friday" include a part of Friday, or not?

This is being just a wee bit over precise! Normally it means finished by the assumed deadline of the start of school/classes on the Friday morning in question.

So it doesn't mean that Thursday is the limit, does it?

Aye it does...unless you're a wide eyed tawny owl and work through the night Thursday into Friday. My advice is to cram as much swotting in as you can before Thursday evening, get all the work done and dusted ...assiduously.... then chuck the whole (BLEEPING) lot aside and go out with your mates for some fun time and forget about it until the next morning after you've had a good night's kip. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
