suggest to do sth - is it possible?

My lil sister once asked me: "I wrote in my test paper: I suggested her to go to the doctor's. Is it correct?" First I told her that I was not sure, let me check. Then when I was looking it up in all kinds of reference, I found a small note in a grammar book, which read: " "suggest + sbd + to do sth" is impossible". The others which I looked at mention nothing about this struture of suggest. That means they neither approve nor disapprove of it. It leaves me wonderring. So I really want to make it clear before I answer my sis. Could you plz help me? Thank you very much in advance.

2Guest: "I suggested that she go to the doctor."

I also found in Internet a lot of as:

Her mother suggested she become a pilot ;
They suggested she move into;
I suggested she tape her music ...

My question: why it's not like "she goes" in YOUR example? In MINE I suggest it's as being similar to "I see him play", but I might be wrong here.
