the undesirable accent

Regarding Mrs Douglas' name: her maiden name was Catherine Jones, middle Christian name Zeta, which was included in her stage name. No hyphen.

Accents are vitally important. I come into contact with lots of people every day who speak technically excellent English but have difficulty in getting British people to understand them.
The reason is their accent. A thick heavy accent can distort words to such an extent that they become hard to understand.
People learning English would do well to pay close attention to accents. I would respectfully suggest that a South of England or even an American accent are easier as they predominate TV/Radio/films and as such are universally understood.
