Southern pronunciation of family name

Can someone help me with the southern pronunciation of the name Jarnigan? I'm live in California and would appreciate any help.

We have a very different spelling than this (I'll tell you after I get some answers so I don't influence any responses) and I'm trying to convince my husband that they are possibly one in the same. Mike, my husband, is researching his genealogy and has hit a brick wall.

Sorry that you're not getting any responses. I believe the reason is that 'Jarnigan' isn't a common name. I'm in the South but am not familiar with it. I just checked a large city directory and didn't find anybody with that name.

"Jernigan" is a more common name, I believe. I've never come across "Jarnigan".

Yes, the same directory that had no entries for 'Jarnigan' has over twenty for 'Jernigan'.

Never heard of it, mind you I'm not from the South (US). I take it originally was an Irish name, considering the -gan ending.
