Yes. As in a 'chunk of cheese', a 'chunk of ice' etc. I have occasionally heard the word used more figuratively as in "It looks like you just cheated your self out of a huge chunk of cash" or "The Chinese lost a huge chunk of territory to the Russians as a result of the Treaty of Peiking (1860)."
