What sort of accent does Deanna Troy in Star Trek have? Where is she supposed to be from?

She's from London, if memory serves.

<<Where is she supposed to be from?>>

Well, the character is supposed to be from another planet.

<<What sort of accent does Deanna Troy in Star Trek have?>>

It says on Wikipedia that early in the series, she tended to use an artificial, intentionally "exotic" accent, although later on she went back to a more normal "mid-Atlantic" (mixed English-American) accent. << http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deanna_Troi >>

I'd like to speak like her original accent. It is very nice. How do I modify my vowels (IPA)?

If I remember correctly, she always sounded like she was trying to talk through a mouthful of mush. Not an attractive accent to my ears.

I thought she spoke very clearly.

It's not that she wasn't clear, she just seemed to be doing odd things with her mouth muscles that distorted the sound.

I found this on Roxann Dawson [Belanna Torres]

''The IMDb also lists this year for her birth. Another interpretation would be that she was not born in the United States, or if she was, it was to illegal aliens. ''

As I recall, Belanna has some weird Californian CCnotmerged accent.
