Asking "What's up" is the same as asking "What is happening?" or "What is going on?"

What's up (informal) = What is taking place? (formal)

<<What is taking place?>>

That sounds odd...

Whats up means whats up!!! Duh!!
Meesh   Mon Jan 01, 2007 7:04 am GMT
Well, Kellie, if you say that "What's up" means "What's up," then the response that the question warrants would be "The sky" or "The ceiling" and that's not usually the response unless the person is trying to be facetious.

"What's up" means something along the lines of "What's going on," "What is taking place," or "How are you."

It's just a casual greeting from one person to another.

When people say "What's up?" to me, I usually say, "Not much."

Whenever people ask me "whts up", I would say SKY.

"Whenever people ask me "whts up", I would say SKY."

And then you are silently mocked for your hokey reply.
