Is Latin a waste of time?

Why learn Spanish when you can learn a more useful and culturally rewarding language like German or French?

Because Spanish is more close to Latin, which is the language which he was want to learn. But Latin hasn't a point pragmatically.

That's debatable. Some sources say that French, Italian, and Romanian are all much closer relatives to Latin than Spanish is. Have you seen something different?
