Indigo, Violet and Purple

I think of pink as a shade of red, rather than its own color, and I think of aqua as a combination of blue and green.
Frances   Fri Oct 07, 2005 4:57 am GMT
Paintwise, what you said is right Uriel, with pink being red+white paint.

I thought acqua was blue + white, but I could be mistaken.
Frances   Fri Oct 07, 2005 7:15 am GMT
Blue + white just leads to a paler shade of blue. You need the green to make aqua.

Red and white paint make pink paint but do we still call it red?
Frances   Fri Oct 07, 2005 9:29 am GMT
I don't know. The semantics of the English and other languages?
Jim   Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:34 pm GMT
Yes, semantics is about all it is.

Green + blue leads to aqua but this could be called just a bluer shade of green.

What do you call a whiter shade of pale?
Jim   Tue Oct 11, 2005 1:34 am GMT
A groovy Motown tune.

is this painting or english? hahaa I always thought of violet being a deeper purple and indigo being a blackened purple.what shade is a purple haze?
hmmm   Tue Oct 11, 2005 1:44 am GMT
btw why is clear a color?
Uriel   Tue Oct 11, 2005 1:47 am GMT
A Purple Haze is actually sort of a reddish color, but that's just because of the cranberry juice and the Chambord:

PURPLE HAZE

3/4 oz. Vodka
3/4 oz. Chambord
Splash of Sour Mix
Splash of Cranberry Juice

I don't think clear is a color. If something is clear, then there will always be some color behind it. Thus you can't see clearness without seeing other colors. Ya know?

ok smartie pants if you scan something clear, what will you get a picture of?I say the top of your scanner?clear is not a color.glass is the color of the light refracted through it.
