such a dumb question

It's such a dumb question but I'm really curious about the following thing:

Is the discourse marker/conversation filler "well" preferred by educated or uneducated people? I mean who use it more often? Is there such a distinction?

I've never read any studies of the topic, but here in Canada, it seems to be preferred by educated/upper-class people as opposed to uneducated or lower class ones.
