Hello everyone!

I.Please explain for me these sentences below. What do they imply?
1) “What is our scale of best?”
2) “I’m kind of in the same boat” or “I’m in the same boat”
3) “You want to be up and out”
4) “Yes I feel that way too”

II. At the beginning of a talk, a discussion or S.T like that, he often says “I though we would talk about S.T”. For example:
“OK, I though we’d talk about health . So first of all, we're going to talk about remedies. What do you do when you have a cold?...” or
“I thought we would talk about traveling. Can you talk about some of the places you've been to.?...”
Why does he use the word “would”? Please explain.
Thank you very much! – type your email address, I will send you a present. Good luck!

1) “What is our scale of best?”
A kind of measurement. It varies from person to person. Everyone determine their own scale of measurement. It can be from 1-5, 1 is being the poor and 5 is being the best. or It can be from 1-10... or from AtoD
2) “I’m kind of in the same boat” or “I’m in the same boat”
We are in the same situation, facing same problems to deal with.
4) “Yes I feel that way too”
to share same feelings and emotions that the other person has.
3) “You want to be up and out”
you want to go to a higher postion (like climbing a ladder or slope)and then exist/leave. or i can be used in a figurative way like reaching a prestigious position in your field and leave it when you are satisfied to leave it.

Why does he use the word “would”?
It is used as a starting phrase to talk about something. A conversation starter.
