What words do you use as "sentence fillers"? The stereotypical Canadian English one is 'eh', but I don't find that I use it very often. My normal question tag is something like [E~] or [I~], added to the end of a declarative sentence: "You're going to the store, ihn [I~]?" For "space fillers" I tend to use 'you know' and of course, 'uh' and 'umm'. Are these different in other varieties?

[A:] and [A~:m] are commonly used for "uh" and "umm" here, which are very common, and "you know" and "like" also very commonly show up here. "Hey" [he:] is traditionally used here in a fashion analogous to Canadian English "eh" at the ends of sentences, even though not everyone has it; I myself do not use it at all (it seems to not be present in the part of the Milwaukee area I am from), but my girlfriend uses it relatively frequently. (One may sporadically hear "eh" here as well, it should be noted.)
