<<This is not modern English. Yes, you sound like an Asian.>>

Hehe. That's bit of a non-sequitur.

However, I agree that it sounds more like Middle English (as Josh said) than Modern English.

If you think the speaker sounds Asian, I'd like to know which area of Asia.

How about this?

"Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote...."

I think the speaker doesn't understand what is a silent vowel.

Hello. I just wanted to obtain some benefit from this thread.

I'm traveling to New York this summer, and wanted to know how good is my english going. I know you'll easily recognize my accent but only need to gauge the comprehensiveness of my speech.

Just surf to this direction:

Thank you in advance.

Oswaldo.

Good for you! I caught different parts of it. I've got to learn IPA for all languages, not just French. What a tool!

Your English pronuciation is good. You do have an accent but you're clearly understandable--at least by me.

Go ahead and make your trip and don't worry.

Not Asian at all. His voice is more similar to any white decent. The way he pronounces the silent syllables gives away the fact that he does not live in a country where English is exposed as much as most countries, including Asian countries. I'd say this guy comes from one of the former USSR nations.

I can tell you one thing, you sound like you are masking your true accent.

Try recording something else and write the transcript along with your post so we could better understand what you were saying.

Thank you very much, Oswaldo (the one who answered)

By the way, Josh Lalonde, the guy who opened this thread wasn't me. I have only published ONE audio file and that was the one in this link:

http://www.supload.com/listen?s=S-w94tatsay

The other guy, the one who supposedly speaks with a weird English is not me (the first post of this thread).

Would you kindly please where do I sound from? I mean, where do you think my accent comes from?

Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers
