stand on line

I've heard many people from New York say they're standing on line, whereas I'd always say standing in line. Do any of you say "standing on line"?

Not me; it's definitely "in line" here. I've heard of "standing on line" before, though.

I always say "in line". I've read that "on line" is a New York dialect feature.

Always "in line". Even when I lived in New York! You must be referring to those weird downstate accents....

I think you can say either around here (Northwest Dutchess County, NY).

There's some debate as to whether this area is Upstate or Downstate.
