the dictionary says it means the starting of shooting season in UK.
But exactly when?

I always wonder why people wish to know such useless things, like when shooting season starts in the UK...

Two possibilities:

The Glorious Twelfth is usually used to refer to August 12, the start of the open season for grouse shooting in the United Kingdom.

The phrase Glorious Twelfth is sometimes also used to refer to the annual Orange Order celebrations of July 12, more commonly referred to as simply The Twelfth.

The Glorious Twelfth - the 12th of August in each year. The start of the grouse shooting season. Every effort is made to ensure that a grouse shot in the Cairngorms of Scotland on the morning of the Glorious Twelfth of August arrives at London's Savoy Hotel in the Strand (as just one example) and then made ready to be served at dinner that very same evening. It never fails, apparently.

Derry is not a person - it's a place. It's the popular name for Londonderry....all the locals there call it Derry. It's in the north west of Northern Ireland. It has an Air about it....ask Danny boy....the pipes, the pipes are calling, from glen to glen and down the mountainside.
