Lets' say a young person come to you and asks you to teach him the "slang" of the American youth culture norms of coolness. Another young person comes and asks you to teach him only the Standard British English norms used by upper-class youths in Britain. Which young person, if any, would you label a wannabee and send packing?
Wannabees both?
I don't understand the question. A wannabee is usually someone who wants to be famous, not learn a language??
A wannabe is someone who wants to fit into a certain culture (punk rock, hip hop, anarchist, upper class, any culture really) but is unable to. I'd label them both wannabes. But I'm with Guest, I don't think I'm getting what the question really is.
