Don't we already learn our local dialect at school? In California, as far as I know, I was taught in "Californian", and when I moved to Kentucky, I was then taught in "southern". When I moved to New York, my education continued in both downstate and upstate "New Yorkese". When I was in South Dakota, I was presumably learning the "South Dakotan" dialect.
