No strangers...

“There are no strangers, only friends I haven’t met yet."

Is that a good way of thinking about language use?

That's an optimistic view of foreign languages, isn't it? But I don't think it changes much, it's not a good way, nor a bad way.

Like between people, learning a language is sometimes easier when you feel attracted to that language, but thinking about a language as a "stranger" or a "friend"... I don't know, it just feels stupid to me...

I was thinking more about our attitude to different ways of using language within our own language, i.e. dialects, idiolects, or simply alternative ways of saying something.
