the Internet, the university

Hello,
Please, do I need the article here?

English is a must for (the) Internet users.

I know, the Internet. But it might be different when it’s an attribute…
And another
Stevenson went to (the) Edinburgh University.
There must have been only one university then. Now there are surely more. What about articles for them?

Thanks.

"English is a must for Internet users."

You can't use an article when it's an attributive. If you did, "the" would be applied to the phrase "Internet users" as a whole rather than just "Internet".

"Stevenson went to (the) Edinburgh University."

If "Edinburgh University" is a proper noun, then you can't use an article, but if not, you would use "the" for a known, particular university and "an" for an unspecific one and you wouldn't capitalize "university".
