"psyche" and "like" don't rhyme for me, being [sAIk] and [lVIk] respectively.
"psyche" and "like"
Sorry. I misspelled it. I actually though it was spelled the same as the word "psyche" with two syllables. Anyway:
"psych" [sAIk]
"like" [lVIk]
"psych" [sAIk]
"like" [lVIk]
So you have vowel raising in "like", but not "psych". Could you tell us more about the distribution of your vowel raising? Do you have it in "psychic"? What dialect of English do you speak?
I have Canadian Raising in both words:
psych ["s6Ik]
like ["l6Ik]

I have vowel raising in "psychic" which is [sVIkIk]. "psychology" however is [sAIkA5@dZi]. I'm from New York.
