are the commas places correctly?

"A lovely girl, in possession of the proper dimensions and a friendly attitude, is seeking a job in modeling."

This is not about me, so don't write off-topic comments ;))

I agree.

Why are commas necessary at all here?

Because without them, it turns into a garden path sentence.

"A lovely girl in possession of the proper dimensions and a friendly attitude is seeking a job in modeling."

By the time you finish it, you may get the impression (if only for a moment) that it's the friendly attitude that's doing the seeking. But it's not an very egregious case; I think it's just more easily parsed when it has commas.

Lazar was spot on. I got the same feeling after reading that sentence after commas.
