Fifteen or Fifty?

I think it is good to consider that French is the lingua franca of many in Africa, not just the language of people living in Paris, but no one is forcing you to learn French. If you are a physician, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, etc., it's a good language to have in your pocket.

Learn languages that travel well and you can travel further and more safely. You also get free stuff from people who are shocked that you speak their language and instant popularity in some cases.

I hope more people will post their choices.

I couldn't see your script, but Omniglot (what a beautiful website, btw) has examples for anyone interested in Tigrinya. I go there when I am "stumped" on a language. Great resource!

Everyone wants to learn Russian and English so far!

Russian is a great 'link' language. Basically due to the Soviet Empire, the same as French and English. Spanish, not so much, for it's a direct connection rather than an intermediary language in most cases, due to the extinction of most native languages. GuaranĂ and Quechua are two exceptions though. Arabic too.

I agree about Russian-it's the new French!
