OK I think we've confused the non-natives enough.

oops! "don't" Dont is non existent according to Mr Collins.

(I have a day off and catching up with my plans for the future and sorting papers etc but as I do so I am listening to a rivetting program on BBC Radio Scotland about the history of Scotland and the development of language /dialects and the origin of place names here.....with Ian Rankin. Now I know exactly why the Haymarket here in Edinburgh is co called...nothing to do with hay as such. Up until now it meant nothing more to me other than it's a train station. As for Fleshmarket Close....nothing to do with white slavery or even...............)

Mick:

Thanks for that link.....this forum never ceases to entertain and enlighten me! Non-natives confused? Confusion and bewilderment is not solely THEIR prerogative, mate! I suffer recurring bouts myself. Cheers! ;-)
