I'd wonder what some Dutch-speakers other than Sander'd think it looks like. Part of why many think it looks like Dutch is 1) it looks West Germanic 2) it doesn't look quite like English and 3) it has lots of doubled letters. Actually, "Plattdeutsch" is a good guess, as in some ways, it is closer to Low Saxon than it is to Dutch, especially with respect to some aspects of its phonology.

Agree with you. Allthough I suspect that it may SOUND a lot like Afrikaans, except that the grammar is very different. But i've seen a lot of IG words in your postings which look totally different from the Afrikaans words (spelling), but would be pronounced the same (barring accents of course)
