Why study a romance language?

That's quite extreme. Oh heck. Just learn French and Spanish. How hard can it be? I learned 'em and I'm no genius.

<<Beauty? What is that? Does it produce money? >>

Yeah, try handing "beauty" to your land lord/lady next month for rent.

That's how business is conducted in Latin countries (or rather, how it's *not* conducted). That's why they get nowhere in life.

Which one resulted to be most difficult?

I'm a native speaker of English. I found them to be about the same in difficulty.

K.T.'s a liar. He claims to speak about every language on earth but I've never seen anything but English in his posts. Don't give me the excuse that no one understands those language, that's a cop out.

Jaja me haces reír K.T. ¿Cuántas profesiones has mantenido? Médico, traductor, agente de la CIA, ingeniero, consejero, trabajo social... Debes de ser Dios personificado!

LOL! No, I'm not a liar. I CANNOT speak almost every language on earth. I'm interested in languages in general and many languages in a specific way.

If you check the archives you will see that I write, translate or give explanations in a few languages here from time to time.

Like many people here (I guess) I can manage in a few languages, understand a few more and study others. I don't have a degree in linguistics, but I used to live in Europe and in Asia, so I have some experience in that way. I also spend time with some immigrants, so I have picked up some words or started studying their languages as well.

I actually didn't write the note in Spanish above my post, although I can read it.

I have never worked for the CIA. I have mentioned FSI here, perhaps that's where the confusion came in. My profession is in a medical-related field and I have interpreted on occasion because there wasn't anyone else to do this. In the hospital or in the field I have only interpreted for Spanish and French, though. I also have done some limited translating and interpreting for immigrants and in a couple of school settings/classes for mixed languages (semi-lingual speakers).

This is because people ask me to help them and I don't charge them most of the time. I have been paid, but usually a situation will come up, so I do it. That's all.

I like many languages. Please write in your native languages.

Nossa gente quanta loucura. Tô fora.

The "fake" K. T. wrote a funny post about how I speak perfect Spanish, but use English because that's the language used in the forum. Of course, I have never had any of those funny experiences, but I can understand how they have been misinterpreted. I do know some Russian, though, a LITTLE.

Мы с твоей матерью трахнулись беззаботно вчера вечером!

Понимаешь?
K. T.   Wed Jun 25, 2008 2:48 am GMT
I understand it and I don't.
