I think the languages are going to be important denpending on the ECONOMIC BLOCKS, AREAS OR MARKETS.

The world is changing and in the future people will not talk about countries but talk about Economic Areas, Blocks or Markets.

The future of the languages depend on which countries get which planets. The next frontier for languages is the near cosmos, the moon and mars. Which languages will be spoken there? That will decide the future of mankind and thus languages also. I think the best contenders are English, Russian and Chinese.

You are right, Ralf. The status of some languages depends on several factors. One of them is their importance in the Economic organizations.

There are several organizations very important. The top ten are: APEC, ASEAN, NAFTA, EU, MERCOSUR, SAARC, EEC, China, India and Japan (the last 3 are powerful countries).

English: the most astonishing thing is the power of English language. It is official in 6 of these organizations. For example, English is the official language in APEC.

Chinese: is not official in APEC, for instance. However, Chinese and Spanish are promoted in this organization. The e-Language Learning Project, is a proposal to help students and educators in the APEC region use the Internet to learn a second language, with an initial focus on English, Chinese and Spanish language skills.

Spanish: is official in NAFTA, European Union and Mercosur (3 organizations). It is not official, but promoted in APEC.

French: is official in NAFTA and European Union (2 organizations).

Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Hindi or Russian are official in 1 organization.

ever notice how its always the speakers of the larger languages who post this kind of nonsense? I bet they can't stop jacking off to this ...
Guest   Tue Aug 26, 2008 11:42 am GMT
And what is your point if that is nonsense?
Guest   Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:40 pm GMT
In my opinion, it is really important. The languages of APEC, NAFTA, EU, Mercosur, ASEAN will be the most important.

For example, it is very important that Chinese and Spanish become official languages of APEC, perhaps the most important organization in the future. It will be an important step to have a higher status.

Ah el Pacífico?. Ese lago español - Ah the pacific? . That spanish lake.
So after 100 years of obscurity, spanish is coming back. Good for spanish and good for chinese.

Ok my friend,

APEC: English, (Chinese and Spanish will be official in the near future)

NAFTA: French, English and Spanish ( the last two are the most important)

EU: English, German and French are the most important in this moment (Spanish becoming more and more important)

Mercosur: Portuguese and Spanish (Spanish lingua franca)

ASEAN: English but in the future Chinese can be official and if Filipinas make Spanish official language then Spanish too.

Well for me is clear, Chinese, English and Spanish will dominate, in fact all linguistic expert say the same

Why do China and Russia give so litte and Italy and Germany so much if both China and Russia can veto UN resolutions and Italy and Germany can't?

"Why do China and Russia give so litte and Italy and Germany so much if both China and Russia can veto UN resolutions and Italy and Germany can't?"

Because Germany, Italy and Japan lost the war.
