In Brazilian original havia dito, havia cantado is present.

Why does every thread involving Portuguese turn into a Brazilian vs European Portuguese blabberfest?
Just curious.
Just curious.
Yoz:Maybe because people want to show their English skills or lack of them since they don't read the threads properly!! Personally I LOVE to see Brazilians and Portuguese arguing about useless things!! :) Some people just don't move on!!!
90% of the time it's off-topic. The original poster clearly stated that he was interested in either form.

Thanks for the sarcasm but I'm NOT a linguist(I have a degree in JAPANESE ONLY) neither smart enough to despise people. What I meant is that arguing whether Brazilian or European Portuguese is superior is a waste of time. I haven't seen seen speakers of other languages attacking each other as much as Brazilians and Portuguese do.
Cheers!!

Are you sure that Coelho does not use the "mais-que-perfeito-simples in his novels?

He uses it, but it's not too frequent. Pudera! Sometimes he wants to sound like a 19th century person, it creates a dose of mystical.
