I don't agree on this one. In Belgium Dutch aka Flemish still exists in Flanders and I don't see it dying at all. Even tho' the Francophones have taken over Brussels, the Flemish people don't want to speak French, like the Wallon people usually don't want to speak Dutch. And yeah, our Dutch culture is gone.. We have internationalised.. What we started ourselves with mainly Britain in 17th century. Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, WIC West Indische Compagnie. We were the only country that traded with Japan and many old buildings still exist here and in Flanders.
Well what's Dutch culture?
For most foreign people it's mills, wooden shoes and kind of bullshit. Of course we don't walk in clothing from two centuries ago, and of course the mills aren't used anymore. For me, Dutch culture is trade, traces we have left behind everywhere in the world. We don't have special food like the French, we don't have a beautiful language, we're just very effective traders.
And yep I know the WIC did very wrong things with slaves..
