I say French.
Then again, I also like a lot of Gaelic songs- be it Irish, Scottish, etc.

English is the language of music. Songs in foreign languages do not sound good at all.

"English is the language of music. Songs in foreign languages do not sound good at all. "

that's because all the music on mtv is in english. But that doesn't mean it cannot sound good or even better in other languages.
But it's true, music en english sounds very nice. It has lots of vowels and diphthongs what makes it harmonious.

Any language has styles of singing it is bet fitted too.
But as far as operatic singing, the prerequisites are:
- a limited amount of clearly distinguishable vowels,
- as few consonant clusters as possible.

Therefore, Italian can't be beaten. It can be sung much louder than any other language (with Spanish probably as a close second)

Italian is a wonderful language for opera, and singing in general, but I'm curious about the "much louder" part of your post.

Opera singers, indeed, most good singers know how to project sounds without the use of a microphone. That's why opera singers have such strong abodominal muscles (even if they look "fat").

If you read an article about the loudness factor recently, I'd love to read it. Thanks.
